Marcia Franks is the Project Coordinator for the Michigan Pediatric Epilepsy Project. She has over 30 years’ experience in public health, beginning her career at a rural local health department before moving to the Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) in Flint, Michigan. She spent over 20 years at the GCHD, most of this time supervising maternal-child health programs. Marcia has extensive experience in maternal-child health systems improvements, inter-agency collaboration, grant management, multi-agency partnership development, and process improvement. She is also experienced in needs assessments and evaluation. During her time at the GCHD, Marcia was responsible for two federal grants: a CDC grant (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) and a HRSA/MCHB grant (Healthy Start). She also supervised the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program. Marcia earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education from Central Michigan University.
