Community Engagement Coordinator HealthConnect One New Orleans, Louisiana
Storytelling serves to describe an instance from the specific author’s point of view. Towards the latter half of the year, HealthConnect One (HCO) used its vast network to collect stories from doulas, doula program administrators, and birthing people that have used and/or been impacted by our services to analyze the various themes of impact within our work. These stories served to inform HCO of the real-life impact our services have in these communities and how we have shaped birthing experiences regardless of our intent. We also collected impact statements from program administrators that work directly with accrediting doulas in order to better understand the impact our services have on the backend to provide equitable and accessible doula care to Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities.
