Kasem Umer Salim is a third year PhD student at University of California Merced. Kasem is an American-born Pakistani Muslim. Kasem has conducted research exploring the effect of socioeconomic and environmental factors on the risk of Dengue Fever Incidence in Guatemala (2017-2018). Kasem is trained in statistical modeling in both the frequentist and Bayesian approaches. Kasem's research interests also include: epidemiology, pesticide use/exposure, Sterile Insect Techniques (SITs). Kasem is interested in a future career exploring population level health effects.
