Jessica has lived in Minnesota all her life. She attended the University of Minnesota Duluth College, where she graduated in 2002 with a degree in Criminology and Anthropology. She started her career in Corrections during college as she worked for the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office as weekend part timer Correction Officer/Dispatcher from 2000-2002. She also worked during the week at a half way house as a Correction Officer for Bethel Work Release in Duluth, MN from 2001-2003. She began her employment at the St Louis county jail in 2003 as a Corrections officer. In October 2010, she was promoted to Corrections Sergeant and worked as the Field Training Commander along with working as the Duluth and Range Sergeant. In September 2014 she was promoted to Captain of Operations. In 2020, she was assigned as interim Jail Administrator and finally promoted to Jail Administrator officially July 1, 2021. Some of her projects that she has worked on through her career are building and implementing a full in house training program for the St Louis County Jail in 2012, updating and rebuilding a stronger Field Training program which won an award in 2012 through the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association, building and implementing a Medication Assistant Treatment program and Re entry services in the jail in 2019 and revising and implementing all new policies and procedures for jail in 2020 to maintain licensing compliance. She was also awarded the Patriotic Employer Award through the Department of Defense in 2019 for her work with military employees.
