Effective communication and collaboration are often discussed in corrections, but how is this applied in real world situations? St. Louis County credits its success in identifying and addressing continuum of care strengths and gaps alongside criminal justice processes through self-examination and key stakeholder involvement. Over 70 stakeholders from multiple agencies participated in Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) mapping, which fostered dialog, innovations, and collaboration across the entire justice system. The process highlighted existing gaps and strengths, as well as identifying changes that could further improve these strengths. Several changes that occurred since beginning the SIM process will be discussed. Presenters will share lessons learned and solutions identified to address gaps across the intercepts, highlighting some of the changes implemented and ways others can identify improvements and implement changes within their communities.
