Mrs. Carrie N. Thompson was privileged to be selected as Acting Chief of Intelligence for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in January 2022. In this role, Acting Chief of Intelligence Thompson serves as a strategic advisor to the DEA Administrator on Intelligence matters and is empowered to optimize the posture and efficiency of DEA’s Intelligence Program through a blended strategy of promoting a diverse and professional workforce, supporting data-driven law enforcement operations, and engaging global partners. She started her career in 1998 in the Detroit Field Division as an Intelligence Research Specialist and went on to have extensive foreign experience with postings in Colombia, Pakistan, and Belgium. Mrs. Thompson served multiple tours at DEA Headquarters in the Strategic Intelligence Section and in the Policy and Strategic Planning Section. Mrs. Thompson received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Notre Dame where she studied International Relations and Economics and graduated with Honors in May 1998.
