Tanisha Mills, MLIS, AHIP, serves as Medical Librarian at Northeast Georgia Health System where she offers reference/research support, instruction, library orientation, and public services to staff throughout the system. Most of her professional foundation was laid in the academic setting, comprised of leading information literacy instruction for first-year through graduate student levels. She has also worked in a corporate setting, virtually supporting oncology clinicians and researchers. One of the highlights of her career was organizing the first Human Library® in the U.S. Virgin Islands on her native island of St. Thomas for National Library Week 2010.
Tanisha was a 2019 fellow of the MLA Research Training Institute for which she investigated and presented on the research capacity of hospital librarians serving graduate medical education programs. She was also a 2019 co-recipient of the MLA Hospital Libraries Caucus Professional Development Grant and served as the caucus’ community manager for two years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University, and a Master of Library and Information Science degree with a medical concentration from the University of Pittsburgh through an IMLS-funded fellowship for U.S. Virgin Islands residents.
