Laura A. Murray, MSIS, MBA, solo HCA GME Librarian, teaches residents, fellows, and faculty at a graduate medical education program, as an integral part of the consortium agreement between a research one university, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and corporate hospital system, HCA Healthcare, West Florida Division. Serving nine hospitals and responsible for 600+ residents as well as hundreds more fellows and faculty, Ms. Murray’s responsibilities include curriculum development, education classes, and individual consultations. Ms. Murray is a seasoned library professional with over 10 years experience in academic libraries. A diverse background in health care, software, retail bookstores, and the art world, Ms. Murray brings global experience to the field of medical librarianship. Current research includes graduate medical education librarianship, faculty needs in graduate medical education, faculty development curriculum for GME, academic-corporate consortium agreements, and developing a common sense guide for new graduate medical education librarians.
Ms. Murray lives with one cat, one kid, and one significant other in a shoebox sized apartment with a sliver of a view of the ocean and spends her evenings contemplating the meaning of it all staring at the water from the dock.
