Kalai Mangai Muthukumarasamy is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Montreal Heart Institute in Dr. Stanley Nattel’s laboratory since November 2019. She completed her PhD in Cardiovascular Research from University of Copenhagen in May 2019. She was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions-Innovative Training Networks (ITN) Fellow of AFib-TrainNet during her PhD and worked closely with different collaborators from that network throughout Europe on Atrial Fibrillation. She currently investigates how the dysfunction of ion channels may lead fibroblasts to overproduce extracellular matrix proteins that cause fibrosis. Her research interests include Atrial Fibrillation, Myocardial infarction, Ion channels, Cardiac Fibrosis, and human-induced pluripotent stem cells-derived cardiomyocytes.
