This session aims to elevate attendee practices beyond "being a vascular sonographer". We review standards and terminology, ensuring we are speaking the same language, we present the art of prepping prior to each patient scan, we discuss and then demonstrate how to optimize scans, and review case presentations to enhance attendee critical thinking skills. Finally, we hear from an ergonomics and biomechanics expert on how to perform our role as phlebology sonographer while minimizing pain and injury, followed by a practical demonstration.

Learning Objectives:

Utilize industry-appropriate terms when communicating with members of the healthcare team regarding superficial venous findings
Perform accurate and thorough diagnostic scans by taking a few minutes to prep for each appointment
Recognize unusual findings and ultilize critical thinking skills during diagnostic scans
Perform accurate and diagnostic scans by optimizing ultrasound settings throughout each and every scan
Improve safety and scanning comfort by using appropriate ergonomics and being aware of sound biomechanics
