John H. Fish III, MD, FACS, FSVM, RPVI is the acting Director of Vascular Medicine for the Jobst Vascular Institute in Toledo, Ohio. He is Director of the Jobst Medical Therapy Management Program and Fellowship Director for a 2-year Vascular Medicine program that is accredited by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) and recognized by the Society for Vascular Medicine.
Undergraduate education was at the University of Notre Dame and medical training was at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School. Postgraduate training began at the University of Innsbruck in Austria in Vascular Surgery where he spent a total of 2 years until returning to the United States to complete training in Internal Medicine in Milwaukee at Aurora Sinai and Saint Luke's Medical Centers. This was followed by a fellowship in Vascular Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic until July 2007. He began practicing Vascular Medicine in Milwaukee in 2007 and moved to Toledo in order to join the ProMedica Jobst Vascular Institute in 2015.
Dr. Fish currently is principle investigator (PI) for an investigator-initiated study on the effectiveness of compression based on comfort verses 30-40 mm of mercury of compression in order to treat venous ulcers as well as the local PI for the NIH-funded C-TRACT study. He has over 30 publications and multiple book chapters over the past two decades and he is currently an active member of question writing committees for both the ABVLM as well as the American Board of Vascular Medicine.
