My dad: "What do you want to eat?" Me: "I don't know." My dad: "Well then, who should I ask?"
This conversation and many similar to it took place with my dad in my growing‐up years. I didn't however, understand the importance of what he was asking until I was an adult who would be expected to know or be able to find out basic knowledge and have answers for others in my work environment. There are certain things we should know ‐ about ourselves, our job, our roles, and our positions. What happens when we do not? What happens when we do? What are willing to invest in what we know?
