Robbie McCormick is the Deputy Director of Administration & Education for Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) in Marietta, GA. She joined this innovative center in April 2022. She entered Public Safety Telecommunications 13.5 years ago, beginning as a frontline dispatcher and working through the ranks to become the Executive Director for the Regional Emergency Dispatch Authority in Eddy County, NM. Prior to moving to Georgia, Robbie lived in Fort Worth, Texas where she served three years as Tarrant County 9-1-1 District's Training & Development Coordinator and Texas APCO 2nd VP.
She earned her BAS in Social Sciences and Criminal Justice in 2007, and her MSE in Educational Counseling in 2009. Robbie holds both Executive Level PST Certification and Master Level Instructional Certification from NM DPS, Basic Instructor Certification from TCOLE, and will soon hold Georgia Post Certification. She received her Certified Public Safety Executive (CPE) and RPL from APCO. Her RPL Project was done through her service on the APCO Standards Development Committee (SDC) Training Subcommittee creating the guidance materials for Working Group Liaisons.
She has been an APCO Adjunct Instructor since 2015 and has been a Career Center and Session presenter for APCO Annual Conferences since 2018. Robbie has chaired or been a member of two APCO standards committee working groups (KPI and PST Technician) and has served as a member of the SDC Training Subcommittee since 2020. She has been a contributing writer for the creation and/or revision of multiple APCO texts.
She has been married 33 years to Cmdr. James A. McCormick (Retired). They have three adult children - Trey of Carlsbad, NM; Allison (and husband Chris) of Fort Worth, TX, and; Dustin (and wife Katie) of Ozark, MO.
