Presentation Description: Every Emergency Telecommunicator will tell you that a Line of Duty death is one of their worst fears. You will leave this session with a better understanding of what classifies line of duty death or traumatic event, have the groundwork for creating a "checklist" or "procedure", have suggestions and ideas on taking care of yourself and your team throughout the incident, as well as an idea of what stress and trauma responses to watch out for. Don't wait to navigate through a live incident! Hopefully, it never happens to you but be prepared for the worst!
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to create a "checklist" or "procedure" for traumatic events in their center and leave with a generic example of one.
At the completion of this session participants will have a better understand of what stress and trauma responses to watch out for.
Participants will leave with a better understanding of the resources available to them and co-workers in trouble.
