Presentation Description: Resilience in the face of our #1 health hazard: compassion fatigue is dependent upon quality self care. When individuals are suffering, negative behaviors result and the team feels the effects. Healthy habits are vital to our well-being, and a struggle to maintain and adopt. We will address the unique barriers 911 personnel face regarding self care habits. You'll discover actionable tips and tools to go over, under, around, or through them. You will walk away with the strategies you need to implement strong self-care practices in your life. You'll be inspired to create a culture of well-being in your center.
Learning Objectives:
At the culmination of this session, participants will be able to identify three or more symptoms, behavioral effects, and negative team outcomes of compassion fatigue, PTSD, burnout, and excessive stress. They will understand the connection between resilience and self-care.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to articulate the importance of accepting the individuality of stressors. This will support efforts to de-stigmatize the need for assistance in recovery.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to plan and execute a personal strategy to incorporate a new healthy habit, identify resources for accessing assistance (APCO Wellness initiative & other resources).
