Making Outreach Your Own: Design Tips from the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services

As ABOS grows, it is learning to respect traditional forms of outreach and to look toward diversity in who, where, and how communities are being actively served. Active and passive forms of outreach will be discussed. Attendees will learn how to combine traditional and nontraditional services to create a rich, vibrant, and vital service to their community. Discover tools that will help you design or reinvent an outreach program based on your community’s needs. Tools such as listservs, continuing education, discussion groups, and more will be discussed. In addition, attendees will learn about the benefits of belonging to a national organization that specializes in outreach services and how that organization supports its members and encourages library students who are entering the outreach field.
