Mucinous neoplasms of the appendix is a term that encompasses indolent and aggressive tumors of the appendix. There is confusion between the natural history and treatment of low and high grade LAMN as well as adenocarcinoma of the appendix. The surgical oncologist needs to be familiar with the different types, treatment, and outcome of mucinous neoplasms of the appendix. This will allow for more productive consultation and treatment planning. non-CME
