Description: As an amphiphilic polymer polyvinyl alcohol is a highly interesting candidate to stabilize amorphous solid dispersions. The solubilizing effect is dependent on the hydrolysis degree as well as the molecular weight. Optimizing the molecular structure can provide an enhanced thermal behavior as well as an extended functionality regarding solubilization of low soluble drug substances. We will provide insights in HME formulation development and discuss latest case studies demonstrating the impact of the recently launched excipient.
