Over the past three decades, development of biotherapeutics has revolutionized innovation in medicines. The field has made major advances in developing recombinant technologies, inventing new drug modalities, advancing into highly complex “living” drug modalities. The industry encompasses various aspects of approaches, including proteins, cells and genes as drugs. The seminar will provide an overview of bioanalytical and PD strategies expected when supporting gene and cell therapeutics. We will review questions, challenges, and opportunities one will face when designing appropriate and relevant support strategy. We will review importance of understanding of the drug mode of action and biology behind specific therapeutic and how it is critical during design of bioanalytical strategy in general.
