In this Prologue Presentation to the "Analytical and Predictive Approaches in Drug Development and Manufacturing" Session focusing on Biomolecules, a brief review of the current state of characterization and predictive tools used to understand proteins and antibodies related to drug development will be presented. The challenges which still exist related to developing therapeutics of biological origin will be covered, and a case for continued innovation will be made, setting up the session.
