This course provides a look at the management of oral surgery complications that can occur in the dental office. It is geared towards the general practitioner/comprehensive dentist and is office-based. This course covers a wide assortment of issues including assessment of the patient’s medical history, local anesthesia, fractured and displaced teeth or portions of teeth, sinus management, infections, nerve injuries, and postoperative care/management. My experience with this course is that it stimulates a great deal of interaction with participants.
Learning Objectives:
Do a quick evaluation of a patient's medical history and use it to anticipate potential surgical complications.
Identify surgical complications related to the use of local anesthesia.
Recognize several methods for the use in controlling surgical bleeding.
Identify and manage surgical displacement complications.
Identify and manage a variety of common post-operative problems.
