Executive Program Director The Jewish Board New York, New York
Supportive housing provides a pathway out of homelessness and residents often need additional support to maintain housing. They may struggle to sustain healthy living environments and challenges around cleanliness may ultimately hamper their mental health recovery, interfere with daily functioning and, in some cases, jeopardize a resident’s ability to remain housed. We will review The Jewish Board’s Safe and Secure Home program, which combines clinical and practical hands-on approaches – how the program was created, how services are delivered and strategies for implementing a similar service model in other organizations.
Learning Objectives:
Underlying reasons for behavior that leads to environmental health and safety risks in supportive housing.
Increase knowledge of clinical approaches to address issues of hoarding, clutter, and excessive grease/grime.
Effective programmatic strategies for implementing services to help residents improve living conditions.
