Chief of Clinical Programs Eastpointe Human Services Beulaville, North Carolina
The federal government has dramatically increased funding commitments for treatment and proposed policy changes. However, it is imperative that we understand any potential unintended consequences as a result of policy changes and ensure the distribution of funds results in improved clinical outcomes. We will discuss the factors that contribute to the rapidly escalating lethal overdoses in the context of emerging trends in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) and provide behavioral health leaders and clinicians with strategies to positively impact individual patients and systems of care.
Learning Objectives:
Provide strategies for how providers are using digital solutions to reach patients and provide MAT.
Evaluate the pros and cons of new legislative proposals
Recognize how the shift toward combining substances with opioids, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, is impacting providers and patients.
