Workshop
Amanda Petefish-Schrag
Iowa State University
In the spring of 2021 work began on The Iowa Insect Pageant - a project rooted in both the arts and sciences at Iowa State University. This interdisciplinary project incorporated the fields of entomology, puppetry, and music, and culminated in multiple public performances and outreach events in the spring of 2022.
In this presentation and workshop, Amanda Petefish-Schrag, the Iowa Insect Pageant director and project facilitator, will discuss the project, its collaborative processes, and practical insights gained on minimizing challenges and maximizing rewards when integrating art and science perspectives. Participants will then have the chance to engage with the project through the creation of their own insect puppets.
