The Journal of Economic Entomology (JEE) publishes research on pest and beneficial insects and their arthropod relatives. Moreover, JEE articles demonstrate how research results are relevant to management, lead to paths in improving management or developing new management approaches, or increase understanding of the insect that may lead to management improvements,. In 2021, JEE published the Special Collection 'Drones to Improve Insect Pest Management'. We are happy to report success of the 9 new articles and the 6 previously published articles in the Collection. Drone article usage (online access to the full article), citations, and altmetrics have been 2.7-fold, 1.3-fold, and 10.5-fold, respectively, greater than the average article published in JEE during the same time peiod. We wish to open a discussion with the drone/AI/cyber-aided community on how JEE can grow its support in providing publication opportunities. Possibilities include another Special Collection, Forum and review articles, and establishing a new section of JEE to serve this community.
