Great strides have been made in establishing the insects as food and feed industry. Recent advancements demonstrate the breadth of abilities each of insect species mass produced. In fact, many facilities have developed their own strains of insect that is used in their processes. The purpose of this presentation is to describe the phenotypes across insect models that have been developed and opine on those that could potentially developed. These examples will be bridged with topics of interest across the spectrum of the industry that includes fraud, espionage, intellectual property, contamination, and legality.
