Widespread use of synthetic insecticides have led to development of resistance in mosquitoes which has inspired enormous amount of research focusing on search for new plant based compounds either as mosquitocide or mosquito repellents. Terpenoids constitute one such target group of compounds. The present review includes information gathered from research publications of last two decades regarding efficacy of terpenoids against Aedes mosquitoes . The potential plants specially from India, their terpenoid compounds and mechanism of action are discussed highlighting the gap in research for further exploration.
