Sergeant Robert Bean is a 21-year veteran of law enforcement who first served as a deputy with a Southern California sheriff’s office before joining the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 2004. He has worked numerous uniformed and plain clothes assignments including, the coveted Use of Force Review Division’s where he reviewed Officer Involved Shootings, In-Custody Deaths and other high-profile Use of Force incidents on behalf of the Chief of Police. In 2019, Sergeant Bean joined LAPD’s Information Technology Bureau team. His responsibilities include being the project manager for several multi-million-dollar Department projects, assisting with contract negotiations on behalf of the CIO, and is a liaison between the Department, City, other agencies, and outside vendors.
Sergeant Bean is a graduate of the California Police Officer Standards and Training’s Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute as well as the Force Science Institute Certification Course. He has been involved in the research, creation, and training of police policy, and worked as part of a consulting team on high profile Use of Force cases for outside agencies.
