My career started from research on prostate and bladder tissues, acquired from surgery for lower urinary tract tumors. Our discovery provides a new idea of the mechanism of the neurogenic bladder. During my doctoral training at the University of Munich, I focus on improving the animal model of lower urinary tract syndrome (LUTS) and accomplish the study based on my clinical work about ketamine-associated LUTS. Meanwhile, my group aimed to establish a novel rat model of seminal vesiculitis that would provide an effective approach to investigate the pathogenesis of this infectious disease. Especially, one of my studies was published in a peer-reviewed article related to drug discovery, which is cooperated with TravogeneTM (known as CARDIFF ONCOLOGY, a pharmacology company in California). Though four years training of medical doctor in Germany and a one-year clinical internship in Beijing Friendship Hospital in China, I decided to continue my study on drug abuse and infectious disease. My current research focuses on the innate immunity activation of human macrophages and microglia, abused drugs (methamphetamine, METH) in impairing the innate immunity, and facilitating HIV infection of macrophages and microglia.
