I received my bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago, then I volunteered at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito and at The Seal Rehabilitation and Research Center in the Netherlands as a seal nurse intern. I shifted my focus to studying environmental physiology in porcelain crabs for my master’s at the Estuary and Ocean Science Center through San Francisco State University. I am now a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Vázquez-Medina lab at UC Berkeley where I am studying marine mammals. I am interested in understanding the implications of anthropogenic perturbations on physiology in elephant seals, whales, and sea lions by studying the effects of stressors at the molecular, cellular and organismal levels.
