João Luís Marôco is a Portuguese Ph.D. student at UIC’s Kinesiology and Nutrition department, under the supervision of professor Bo Fernhall. He is a research assistant at UIC’s Integrative Physiology Laboratory and a teaching assistant in statistics and research methods. His main research interests include the acute and chronic responses of the cardiovascular system to exercise in populations with (e.g. type 2 diabetes, coronary disease); and without disease; and the reliability of non-invasive measurements of the cardiovascular system.
