Hello, My name is Aditi Vyas, I am 4th year PhD candidate in Integrative Physiology at Michigan Technological University. My research interests include incorportaing non pharmacological stratgeies such as mindfulness, stress management, sleep, exercise, and rehabilitation for conditions like anxiety, blood pressure, and arterial stiffness. My current projects include investigating the mechanisms of stress and how it can impact cardiovascular health in humans. My research was active even during the times of global pandemic and its negative impact on psychological health. The study partiicpants were enagged in mindfulness and stress management during the beginning of pandemic which helped their anxiety levels. I have extended my research further since then into understanding the mental stress mechanisms. The current poster I am presenting this year at Experimental Biology investigated the influence of acute mental stress on aortic wave reflections after the mental stress event. Mental stress can impact cardiovacular health by increasing heart rate, blood pressure. It can also impact muscle sympathetic nerve activity. This study identifies the relationship between these variables to understand the mechanisms.
I look forward to learning more about other ongoing research at EB. I also want to take an opportunity to network and know if there are any prospective career opportunities for me to advance my professional endevours. If you are interested to know more about me or my research I will be presenting my poster on 5th April from 10.15- 12.15pm, program number 893.8 and poster board E391. Excited to see you!
