I am trained in the field of cellular, molecular biology and pharmacology on Dr. Hans-Owe Simon laboratory at institute of Pharmacology, university of Bern, Switzerland. My experience with kidney research began when I received Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) postdoctoral fellowship to move in USA at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) to join the laboratory of Dr. Leonidas Tsiokas where I studied ciliogenesis of polarized cells, including MDCK and other polarized lines and polycystic kidney disease. Five years later, I moved to Henry Ford Hospital, in 2017, for my second postdoctoral training where I joined laboratory of Dr. Chundai Hao and mastered in cutting-edge technique CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology, including CRISPR screens. Dr. Hao left the Henry Ford Hospital in 2018 and I was fortunate to join Dr. Pablo Ortiz’s laboratory at the Hypertension and Vascular Research Division as an Instructor-Research Track where I am continuing my training and studying protein-protein interactions to investigate the molecular mechanism of endocytosis of NKCC2 and its regulation by proteins such as ALMS1, ACTN4 and others in thick ascending limbs (TAL) of mouse and rat kidneys. In addition, I developed the Cas9 methodology to silence ACTN4 in TALs using the adenoviral method developed by Dr. Ortiz.
