My current thesis work involves the isolation and characterization of human derived cardiac progenitor cells and how these cells contribute to cardiac remodeling and regeneration after injury. I am using a combination of proteomic approaches to investigate the global proteomic profile of stem/progenitor cell populations and how their secretome contributes to heart remodeling processes such as the fibrotic, inflammatory, and proliferation response. Our work hopes to determine the master regulators of secretome induced regeneration and use this as an avenue for the development of better therapeutics for the treatment of heart disease.
