Gary J. Farkas, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Farkas received a B.S. in kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Ph.D. in anatomy from Penn State College of Medicine. His research has primarily studied causes of neurogenic obesity and cardiometabolic disease after chronic spinal cord injury, and the mitigating effects of dietary and exercise interventions on these comorbidities. Dr. Farkas has published over 30 scholarly papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. He is an award-winning researcher and educator with accolades from several local and national organizations. Dr. Farkas has received research funding from the UCSF School of Medicine in San Francisco, CA and the American Association for Anatomy.
