My research interest is in the biology of aging, primarily using Drosophila melanogaster (fruit/vinegar fly) as a model system and concentrating on the oxidative stress/damage theory. Principal findings have been that genetic and pharmacological interventions to decrease oxidative stress did not increase longevity and in some instances had adverse effects.
