I am a fourth year Ph.D. candidate in Dr. Besim Ogretmen’s lab at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Hollings Cancer Center, studying mechanisms involved in the crosstalk between sphingolipid metabolism and the complement system in regulating tumor metastasis. I am originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa and moved to the United States in 2012, where I am now a US citizen. My long-term goal is to advance my scientific career in academia, focusing on understanding signaling pathways involved in cancer metastasis and the use of immunotherapy for cancer treatment.
