Chelsie Miller is an undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, with a minor in chemistry at San Diego State University (SDSU). As an NIH-funded IMSD scholar and student researcher, she is exploring the intersection between nutrition and biochemistry with guidance from her mentors, Dr. Christal Sohl and Dr. Shirin Hooshman. Her current project, “The Effects of Prune Extract on Cellular Models of Bone Cancer,” investigates the potential of compounds present in prunes to slow growth of bone cancer cells. Following her graduation, Chelsie hopes to utilize her passion for biochemistry and knowledge of nutrition by pursuing a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry.
