I am currently a fifth year PhD Candidate in Dorothy Teegarden's laboratory in the Nutrition Science Department at Purdue University. My research has focused on the role of cytoplasmic lipid droplets (CLDs) and fatty acid metabolism in mammary cancer cell progression. Some of my research goals include: 1) To determine the role of energy production from CLDs in the promotion of mammary cancer cell migration, 2) To understand the contribution of CLD-associated proteins to mammary cancer cell migration, and 3) To elucidate the differences in lipid metabolism between non-metastatic and metastatic mammary cancer cell progression.
