Khairunnisa Semesta is a Ph.D. candidate at Duke University. Her research focuses on the molecular basis of neuropsychiatric disorders, specifically the factors that govern the activity of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are essential to signaling between brain cells. Aberrant GPCRs are implicated in many complex psychiatric disorders, and better understanding their function can help identify druggable targets to treat these illnesses.
