Research Fellow, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Massachusetts General Hospital
Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Dr. Buta is a Clinical Research Fellow in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children in Boston. After completing two M.S. degrees, in applied biomedical engineering and biotechnology, at Johns Hopkins University, he pursued his medical studies at Northwestern University, an MBA at the University of Chicago, and general surgery training at Cleveland Clinic. He has a longstanding interest in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship and has been involved in several startups developing platforms ranging from early detection of bloodstream infections to AI-driven small molecule drug discovery. His current work is focused, in part, on leveraging leading-edge imaging techniques and spatial transcriptomics to elucidate laser-assisted drug delivery and other laser modalities for treating burn scars and other skin pathologies. After finishing his research fellowship, he plans to continue his surgical training in a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency program.
