Takayo Maeda, RN, MHS, PhD, is a post-doctoral researcher at the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Kobe University in Japan. She has been engaged in nursing for 33 years as a registered nurse in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. After retirement of JGSDF, she enrolled in the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Kobe University as a graduate student, where she received her master's and PhD. degrees, she became a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Public Health, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Kobe University. Her research interests include disaster nursing, especially the development of a disaster dispatch readiness programs to improve the individual readiness of hospital nurses in Japan. She also hopes to use the scale she has developed in other countries. The scale she developed in 2018 is the Japanese Disaster Nursing Readiness Evaluation Index (JDNREI), which is based on the Readiness Estimate and Deployable Index (READI) by Dr. Carol Huebner of the United States.
