Tiny, Ontario, Canada
Alicia Smith is the current president of IDA Ontario, She is the parent of a dyslexic child and she is also dyslexic herself. Her involvement with IDA started a few years ago when her son was struggling with learning to read. Through IDA Ontario she found the information that she needed to turn things around for him, but at the same time became aware of how many other kids and families in Ontario were struggling with literacy and not getting the support they need to succeed. So she started volunteering with IDA so that she could advocate for systemic changes to the Ontario education system.
