Author
Self-Employed, British Columbia, Canada
After earning two degrees in English, Claire set out to make her living as a writer. She has worked as a radio copywriter, newspaper and radio reporter, book editor, and university instructor. She had a brief stint as a government communications officer – and a longer, more useful spell coordinating a climate change research network. For most of her career, however, Claire has been a freelance writer, with a preference for science writing and reporting. She has also written and edited major science-based reports and studies for international, Canadian, and Indigenous governments and agencies.
Currently, she spends much of her time writing fiction and nonfiction for children and young adults, as well as helping out with the chickens, ducks, and assorted other animal life on the small BC Gulf Islands farm she shares with two generations of family.
