Matthew Corbett is the current CEO of the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library and has held this position since December 18, 2019.
He came into this role with a passion for creating spaces, technology, and programming that are accessible for all ages.
He brought with him a Master of Library Science from Western University, and a diverse range of work experience from the prison library in Penetanguishene, the public library in Tay Township, and the St. Mary’s Public Library, just south of Stratford, Ontario.
In his previous position, Matthew successfully created an innovative Maker Space and has used this experience to help transform Bradford’s existing computer lab into a Maker Space, that is similar to Innisfil’s ideaLAB. He is well versed in policy development, and has developed many key continuity and visionary plans for the libraries he has worked for.
During his time at the Bradford Library, Matthew has also been focusing on the importance of equity work, as he strives to ensure that the Library and Library services are accessible to and representative of the diverse community of Bradford West Gwillimbury. He’s been working to achieve this by launching a two part equity audit, conducted by an external party, and through implementing the recommendations made during these audits.
