Senior Environmental Program Manager
Port of Seattle
Seattle, WA, United States
Kathleen Hurley seeks to create meaningful connection between the human and natural environments with the aim of amplifying the impact of purpose-driven work. In her current role at the Port of Seattle, she leads projects related to mitigation banking, urban habitat restoration, ocean acidification, orca recovery, and kelp conservation. The Port has a goal to restore 40 acres of habitat in our watershed and this goal drives our work.
Ms. Hurley has worked at the crossroads of economic development, climate change, and natural resource management across the U.S. and on the ground in over a dozen countries in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. She's advised executive-level decision-makers at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), UNDP, and the World Bank on climate, biodiversity conservation, and environmental issues to craft meaningful strategies for adaptation, conservation, among other issues. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with nonprofits, academic institutions, government, and others to create change through research, stakeholder engagement, and management of interdisciplinary teams. Ms Hurley has a Masters degrees in International Environmental Policy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and in marine science from Western Washington University.
