Amira is the lead Epidemiologist for the Opioid Program at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County. Early in her professional career, she worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As a CDC Public Health Associate, she worked on the Study to Explore Early Development (SEED). SEED is the largest study to date to explore risk factors for Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities . Amira graduated from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, with a focus in infectious disease epidemiology and parasitology. Her interest includes legal epidemiology and prenatal health. Amira is an avid cyclist and artist when she’s not investigating in the field.
