Dr. Mudd is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Dr. Mudd completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then completed his emergency medicine residency training at the University of Cincinnati. He has a broad background in basic and translational immunology. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts to date. His laboratory currently studies the human immune response to viral respiratory infections, specifically influenza and COVID-19, with a focus on tissue-localized responses in the lung and lymph node following vaccination and natural infection. He has received multiple grant awards from foundations and has reviewed grants for the SAEM foundation and the NIH.
