This workshop will introduce Intrafamilial Child Torture (ICT), a newly emerging category of child maltreatment. Attendees will learn a working definition of ICT, family dynamics, and drivers of ICT, and will have the opportunity to analyze real-life case examples of ICT. Participants will gain a multi-disciplinary understanding of how to identify and intervene in these cases, where parents intentionally torture their own children.
Learning Objectives:
Identify at least 2 factors they should address or consider when encountering a case of intrafamilial child torture, based on their profession (law, medicine, social work, etc.)
Identify whether intrafamilial child torture has occurred after reading a real-life case study.
Analyze the effectiveness of different service systems in a real-life case study.
