Managing therapy waitlists in a CAC setting can be challenging and stressful. In this presentation, an experienced clinician will discuss how the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center has used the power of a group setting to further facilitate healing for a large number of families. Attendees will learn about the implementation of group programming in a CAC setting, specifically how to facilitate TF-CBT groups (other therapy modalities will be briefly highlighted), and special considerations for serving families in a group setting in the ever-changing dynamics and regulations surrounding the global pandemic. The presentation will also address common challenges faced with group therapy programming, discuss struggles and offer encouragement and resources for success using groups in a CAC setting. This presentation is not just beneficial for mental health providers but for any member of the multi-disciplinary team to learn creative solutions to increasing the number of families who receive services.
